Infotainment

Attractive design is accompanied by perfect functionality. The multimedia 10" display enables touch slider operation, where you don’t need to touch the screen while adjusting the volume or zooming the navigation. Below the display, it also provides an ergonomic wrist rest when operating the screen.

3-zone air conditioning

In the car equipped with 3-zone Climatronic air conditioning it is possible to set three autonomous thermal comfort zones in the interior: driver zone, front-seat passenger zone and rear-seat zone. The temperature range available in each of these zones is 16–29.5 °C. The Zone 3 temperature settings, normally controlled on the rear side of the Jumbo Box, can be deactivated in the infotainment system.

Virtual Cockpit

Virtual Cockpit, which features a 10.25-inch display, can be individually customised and offers the driver a choice of five different views. These range from the Classic layout – displaying both a large speedo and the rev counter in the style of round, analogue instruments – to the Basic, Modern and Sport layouts as well as the Extended layout, which integrates the map from the navigation system on a large scale.

Navigation system

The top-class Columbus infotainment with 3D navigation system can provide a different zoom for infotainment display and for the Virtual Cockpit, which is a great tool for displaying maps, for example. In addition to the touch or gesture control, you can operate the device via Laura, the digital assistant.

Head-up display

The head-up display projects important information such as the speed, navigational information, detected traffic signs or activated assistance systems directly onto the windscreen in immediate view of the driver, allowing them to read it without taking their eyes off the road.

Laura

Škoda Digital Assistant Laura, which is available for the Amundsen infotainment system, is a new advanced voice control system, which is also able to understand natural speech. It can be activated simply by saying “Okay, Laura” – there’s no longer any need to press a button or perform any other kind of action. The system can assign queries or instructions to suitable topics and take action accordingly. When asked, it can navigate the user to a specific destination, pick out their favourite music or write out dictated text messages.

Ambient lighting

The decorative strips in the front and rear doors and the foot areas can be fitted with an ambient LED lighting system. Along the upper edge of the four door trims sit ultra-narrow light conductors. The driver can control their brightness as well as the colour of the light emitted: Cool White, Fire Orange, Cinnamon, RS Red, Pink, Purple, Dusk Blue, Azure, Škoda Green, Acid Green...

Full LED Matrix headlights

This innovative system generates a light beam consisting of several segments, which it controls individually. This prevents other road users from being dazzled, despite the high beam being on at all times. The intelligent technology uses the camera on the windscreen to detect oncoming traffic as well as people and objects reflecting the light, and a control unit to immediately turn off individual segments of the light beam.

Emergency Assist

The Emergency Assist system mitigates the risk of an incident in the event of the driver’s sudden health collapse. If necessary, it brings the car to a standstill and activates the hazard lights. If the Lane Assist system ascertains that the driver’s hands are not on the steering wheel, including after an alert, the Emergency Assist takes over to slow down the vehicle, keep it in the centre of its lane and activate the hazard warning lights that then keep flashing.

Traffic Jam Assist

The Traffic Jam Assist is a comfort function designed to facilitate the steering of DSG-fitted vehicles in traffic jams. The fourth-generation Škoda Octavia offers the Traffic Jam Assist also for vehicles fitted with manual transmission. It is part of the Adaptive Cruise Control Stop & Go system and it also liaises with the Lane Assist system and, when necessary, the front parking sensors. By controlling the engine, brakes and steering, the Traffic Jam Assist makes the vehicle pull away, brake and turn to copy the movement of the surrounding vehicles (at speeds of up to 65 km/h).

Lane Assist Plus

Lane Assist is a system designed to keep the vehicle in its lane and, if necessary, alert the driver of an unwanted lane change. The camera monitors the horizontal road marking, and the assistant intervenes in the steering to keep the vehicle inside its lane. The “adaptive lane guidance” mode is a smart function designed to intervene in the steering in order to keep the vehicle in the centre of its lane.

Side Assist

Thanks to two radar systems at the rear of the car, the Side Assist detects vehicles approaching from behind or that are in the car’s blind spot. The driver is informed of this by an LED signal on the inner edge of the wing mirror housings. While the familiar Blind Spot Detect has a range of up to 20 m, Side Assist can detect vehicles from a distance of up to 70 m away and thus also effectively warns the driver of hazardous situations on motorways and dual carriageways.

Predictive Cruise Control

Predictive Cruise Control works with a navigation system (that has the speed limits as well as start and end points of municipalities stored in map data) and a multifunction camera that recognises traffic signs. For example, when a car travelling on the motorway enters a conurbation, it decelerates to the speed limit in that zone, before accelerating again to the motorway speed limit on leaving the city. In addition, the system draws on navigation data to evaluate its location and predictively adjust the speed of the car before an approaching bend, roundabout, or junction.

Front Assist

A system designed to monitor the distance from the vehicle ahead, including automatic slowing down and braking, and to warn the driver of the danger of collision or, if a collision is inevitable, minimise its consequences by braking. It also detects if a pedestrian or cyclist dangerously attempts to cross the path of the car, using a sophisticated signal evaluation algorithm.

Online auxiliary heater

Control your car’s auxiliary heating from anywhere in the world via the Škoda Connect App for your smartphone. When you’ve been on a trip and you’re about to set off home, for example, activate your heater beforehand to warm up the car. Besides activation itself, you can also set a departure time and choose between heating and ventilation.

Virtual pedal

Fitted with electric drive units, the tailgate can be easily opened and closed in several ways, including the virtual pedal. The touch-free tailgate opening system features a motion sensor to monitor the area under the rear bumper. Upon detecting a “kick”, i.e. a foot moving forward and then backward (longitudinal direction) and identifying an authorised key in the KESSY zone behind the vehicle, the system opens the tailgate. Touch-free tailgate opening and shutting will come in handy whenever your hands are full of shopping bags… or when you want to show a small magic trick to your kids.

Service Scheduling

With Service Scheduling, you no longer have to fret about when to book another service. Your Škoda service partner and your car will take care of this. The vehicle reports any required servicing to the backend server. The details are sent to your preferred service partner, who contacts you proactively to schedule an appointment.

Parking Position and honk & flash

Don’t panic about where you left your car in a large car park or unknown city. Parking Position consigns those worries to the past. The vehicle transmits its position data once after every trip. After retrieving the data via smartphone or smartwatch, you can find your parked vehicle using its GPS position.

Lock & Unlock

Do you need to lock or unlock your Škoda, but you are too far away from it? This feature can significantly ease life in many situations, for example when you forget to lock the car or want to let somebody else inside. It allows you to lock or unlock your vehicle through the Škoda Connect Portal or Škoda Connect App. It works without any distance limitation.

Car Access

New function Car Access, which is part of MyŠkoda App, allows selected external partners to deliver goods or services directly into your vehicle without your presence.

Functions on Demand

Functions on Demand technology allows you to purchase and activate vehicle and infotainment functions, after vehicle production. This means that you can change your mind which functions you need to use in your vehicle. In addition, you can upgrade your used vehicle as well.

Online personalization

This service allows you to set, save and restore settings within vehicle. All of the settings are synchronized with Škoda ID account. This brings a possibility of an easy transfer of settings between different vehicles.

Area View

Area View enables you to view the cars immediate surroundings on the radio/navigation screen. A total of four cameras provide the reassuring all-round view. The images from the cameras are processed digitally and shown in real time in the infotainment display. With the 180° wide-angle lenses at the front and rear, your’s field of vision is even extended by the areas 90° to the left and right of the vehicle’s foremost and rearmost points.

Dynamic chassis control

The adaptive chassis control system evaluates and responds to various driving situations (braking, acceleration, turning) while adapting the damping characteristics. The damping force (in both wheel movement directions) of each shock absorber is continuously evaluated and adjusted in response to the input data and in line with the mode concerned, independently for each wheel. The key input parameter is the driver-set mode (Sport/Comfort/Normal) – the electronics adjust the car’s behaviour accordingly.
