Using the Škoda Digital Key couldn’t be easier
Adding your car key takes just a few quick steps. Start in the MyŠkoda app for a seamless setup.
- Download the MyŠkoda app and create a Škoda ID. Ensure with your phone manufacturer the device is compatible for digital key. Click here for more information about supported Apple devices, and here for more information about supported Android devices.
- Open the MyŠkoda app and start the digital key pairing by scanning the QR code on the in-car “key” menu or through the digital key activation email.
- You will be guided to the Wallet application on your device.
- Place your phone in the center console if prompted. Confirm to add the key securely, and wait until the pairing is finished.
- Your key is ready! Hold it near the reader, or simply approach the vehicle for hands-free use. Use, share and manage your digital key via the Apple Wallet, Google WalletTM or Samsung Wallet app.

What do I need to use the digital car key?
To use your car key in Apple Wallet, Samsung Wallet or Google WalletTM, you need an iPhone or Apple Watch or a compatible AndroidTM device that supports Bluetooth and UWB (ultra-wideband) or NFC (near-field communication) technology and is equipped with a secure element where the key is installed, in addition to a valid Škoda ID.

How does the digital car key work?
The digital car key works using Bluetooth and UWB (ultra-wideband) or NFC (near-field communication) technology. When your car detects your mobile device’s Bluetooth signal, you can lock and unlock your car and open the trunk from within your device’s Wallet app.
When near your Škoda, the car will detect your device’s UWB signal and enable keyless entry; when the UWB signal is lost, keyless entry will be disabled. The digital car key can also be used with NFC. To use NFC, simply hold your device’s NFC sensor next to the NFC sensor in the driver-side door handle to unlock the car. For iPhone, the NFC sensor is located on the top center of the device; for Android you can find the NFC sensor location in your NFC settings menu.
Is the digital car key safe to use?
Yes. Your car key is stored in the so-called Secure Element on your device. The car uses Bluetooth, NFC and UWB wireless technology to detect the signal and proximity of your car key in a tamper-resistant manner.
In the event your device is lost, stolen, or broken, you can easily deactivate paired digital car keys to prevent unauthorized access to your car.
You can share your digital car key securely with anyone who is using an iPhone or Apple Watch or a compatible Android device. To get started, open the wallet app on your phone, then tap the button ‘Share’ (Apple Wallet, Samsung Wallet and Google Wallet) and follow the instructions to share your key. You will be able to share your key via your favorite messaging app or email and can include an activation code for additional security. When required, you can simply delete shared digital car keys directly from your device’s Wallet app.
You can share a digital car key with up to four others. If you need to share a digital car key with more people, you first need to delete a previously shared digital car key. A shared digital car key can be used on iPhone or Apple Watch or a compatible Android device.

Digital car keys are currently supported by Škoda Elroq and Škoda Enyaq models manufactured from May 2026, and Škoda Epiq and Škoda Peaq.
What happens if my device needs charging, is lost, stolen or broken?
You can unlock and start your car even if your device needs charging. You can still unlock and start your car for up to five hours with Power Reserve on iPhone or Apple Watch. NFC entry and UWB keyless entry are also supported in Power Reserve. Similarly, if using a compatible Android device, you may still be able to unlock and start your car for a few hours after your device has switched off.
In the event your device is lost, stolen, or broken, you can easily deactivate paired digital car keys to prevent unauthorized access to your car.
What happens if I don't have an internet connection?
An internet connection is only required to activate the Škoda digital car key. Once a digital car key is installed on your device, an internet connection is no longer required for locking, unlocking or starting the car. This means that you can use the digital car key even when you do not have an internet connection, for example in underground garages or in areas with poor signal reception.
What is the NFC Service Card and how do I use it?
The NFC Service Card is delivered with your car and serves as a back-up to your physical and digital car keys. The Service Card is ideal for situations where you do not want to share a physical or digital car key, or when this is not convenient, for example when you hand over your car for valet parking or scheduler maintenance.
The Service Card is deactivated by default and needs to be activated before each use. It will remain paired to the car until the ignition is turned on again with a physical or digital car key, after which the Service Card is deactivated.
Will I still receive a physical key?
Yes. Your Škoda will always be delivered with a physical key and a back-up NFC Service Card, even if it supports the digital car key.
