In spite of the outdated design the Škoda 105/120 was a significant step forward. Its continual modernisation continued; in 1983 this concerned a wider wheel spacing, 13“ wheels, plastic bumpers and other modifications.
A year later the Škoda 130 model appeared, with a five-speed gearbox, rack and pinion steering and trailing rear axle.
The Garde two-door coupe was manufactured in the Kvasiny branch plant from 1981, later (with improvements from the Škoda 130) it was renamed the Škoda Rapid.
