At the end of 1895 two dedicated members of the Club of Czech velocipedists, the mechanic Václav Laurin and the bookseller Václav Klement, began manufacturing their own bicycles under the name of Slavia in Mladá Boleslav.
In the first two years of joint enterprise they introduced five bicycle models of their own design onto the market. Touring, ladies and semi-racing bicycles were among these and even at that time they offered a two year guarantee for the products.
In spring 1899 the first bicycle with an auxiliary motor was added to the manufacturing programme, the L&K mtocyklett was born.
