Interview

Should the Škoda Roomster styling study reflect the dreams of customer expectations or is it a family car of the future in škoda stylists' imagination?

T. Ingenlath: The Škoda Roomster is a styling study, a vision of the future aiming to meet the society of tomorrow's expectations of lifestyle, work or leisure time. Of course, its technology and some design elements will appear in the coming generations of Škoda cars. Roomster hints at what you can expect from Škoda Auto in the near future. It is a model made by a traditional car manufacturer wishing to offer a state-of-the-art quality and versatility to its customers.

What are the most significant design or technological features of the car? What innovations does Roomster bring to the family car category?

T. Ingenlath: There are numerous new and original elements in Roomster's styling and design, the whole of the dashboard, for example, while the traditional front grill in a chrome -plated frame with a logo on the top centre, powerful door pillars and tail lights with red contours are the Škoda trademark. Quite important for Škoda is the monolithic body structure appearing as one complete cast. There is no central hump and both the driver and the front passenger have plenty of leg room and an easy access to the rear seats. Sliding the rear seats of up to 750 mm you can load your luggage even between the seats! Folding the rear seats in their back position you can turn Roomster in a small van. The two lengthwise sunroofs are highlighting the generous, uninhibited and bright interior. In between the sunroofs there are the courtesy lights and air-con vents.

Is Roomster just a stylist vision of the future or does it, or some version of it, have a foreseeable chance to go into production?

T. Ingenlath: We have no plans of series production of Roomster. As has been already said, the styling study gives a hint of Škoda Auto's intentions in terms of both vehicle concept and component design.
