Six engines for the Roomster

Choose the one that meets your needs and desires from a trio of petrol and diesel engines. The basic option is the 1.2 HTP economic petrol engine with an output of 51 kW, the alternatives are 1.4 16V/63 kW and 1.6 16V/77 kW engines.
 
Diesel lovers can choose from modern 1.4 TDI PD engines with outputs of 51 or 59 kW and a 1.9 TDI PD/77 kW engine. All of them will be available with a five-speed, fully synchronised gearbox, you can also order a DPF particulate filter for both of the more powerful turbo diesels.

No competitor can boast a 2,617 mm wheel base and neither can many cars that are in the next larger class. The wheel spacing (front 1436 mm, rear 1500 mm) also has a positive influence on handling and stability at higher speeds and under peak loads.

The front axle is a McPherson Strut with lower triangular control arms and a transverse torsion bar stabiliser. A simple crank axle with trailing arms linked by a torsion bar is used in the rear.

ABS is standard on all four wheels as is an EBV emergency brake valve, MSR motor spin regulation and a Dual Rate braking assistant. ASR anti-slip regulation and an ESP stabilising system are optional.

Power rack and pinion steering is included in all versions and levels of accessories. The outer track circle diameter is 10.3 m, the turning circle diameter is only slightly greater at 10.5 m.

The basic version of the Roomster is already equipped with four airbags and five three-point retractor belts. The car can be optionally equipped with head airbags.

The side-head airbags protect heads of the driver and passengers in the front and rear end seats in a side-on or combined impact. They remain inflated for at least 5 seconds and therefore provide protection not only in the first impact, but also in any secondary impact. This complies with statutory requirements as well as the requirements of the Euro-NCAP test.

Other active and passive safety features, for example ISOFIX child seat clips and the anti-slip ABS system, are fitted as standard.
