The first vehicle of the updated Popular 1101 type, with a two-door Tudor body was launched onto the market in spring 1946. Later on a four-door version and a van with a load capacity of 300 kg were added.
In 1946 the Petera body workshop in Vrchlabí was affiliated to the Boleslav Automobile factory and the first Škoda vehicles manufactured here were ambulances on Škoda 1101, and from 1949 also 1102 chassis (it was distinguished from the 1101 by only a few insignificant modifications).
Military versions were also manufactured and the “Tudors“ were a very successful export article; they were successfully exported to Australia for example.
