Turbocharged engines with direct fuel injection have flat torque curve in wide rpm range. Thanks to the turbocharging, they have ample power in low rpm, where the engine is used for most of the time. In the lower rpm range, the engine is also quieter and features lower fuel consumption and emissions.
Direct fuel injection enhances the efficiency of burning fuel and contributes to lower fuel consumption and thereby also to lower CO2 emissions. In case of diesel engines, the high-pressure common-rail injection is used. Diesel particulate filter also helps to reduce the amount of particles in the exhaust gasses.
