Fantastic chassis No competitor can boast a 2,617 mm axle base and neither can a number of cars that are a class bigger. The wheel spacing (front 1436 mm, rear 1500 mm) also has a favourable influence on handling and stability at higher speeds and peak loads.
The front axle is a McPherson type with lower triangular control arms and a transverse torsion stabiliser. A simple crank axle with trailing arms linked by torsion beam was used in the rear.
Safety firstThe basic version of the Roomster is already equipped with four airbags and five three-point retractor belts. The car can be optionally equipped with head airbags.
The side-head airbags protect heads of the driver and passengers in the front and rear end seats in a side-on or combined impact. They remain inflated for at least 5 seconds and therefore provide protection not only in the first impact, but also in any secondary impact. This complies with statutory requirements as well as the requirements of the Euro-NCAP test.
Other active and passive safety features, for example ISOFIX child seat clips and the anti-slip ABS system, are fitted as a matter of course.
