ŠKODA AUTO University was founded in 2000 and to this date is the first and the only company-owned university in the Czech Republic. ŠKODA AUTO University is a private tertiary level school with a trade-specific academic programme. The founder of the school is ŠKODA AUTO a.s., a car producer which has been manufacturing passenger cars for more than a century and is one of Europe's largest automotive brands within the Volkswagen concern.

Our school was the first university in the region of Mladá Boleslav and the Educational Centre Na Karmeli was founded in 2007. This location can boast a tradition of education and book printing from the age of the Unity of Brethren in the 16th century. In addition, this area is of special interest because it is where the modern architecture of the new buildings perfectly complements the restored historical buildings of the former monastery. Our university has had excellent spatial and technical conditions for both teaching and other professional activities since September 2007.

Our educational concept is unique within the Czech Republic. The Bachelor Degree Progamme includes one semester of mandatory internship in an industry enterprise, usually in ŠKODA AUTO a.s., furthermore the best students are placed in foreign subsidiaries of the Volkswagen group. The follow-on Master Degree programme is offered in the Czech or English languages and there is a high degree of interaction between lecturers and students during seminars and exercises.

Every student has the possibility to travel abroad within the Erasmus programme.  You can study in 10 countries throughout Europe or have an internship abroad in partner companies, further information can be found in the section Internship & Study abroad.

At present, over 1050 students from the Czech Republic and 18 foreign countries are studying at ŠKODA AUTO University. There are 35 full-time academics and 80 part-time academics and specialists including experts from ŠKODA AUTO a.s.
